We are thrilled to be featuring Sunshine State Sweets in our blog this month, as they won the award of “Best Bakery” in The Cabbies! Through August and September, the community was able to nominate their favorites in the 8 different categories and then go on to vote for the winners! The Cabbies are a nomination and award system for local businesses and people in the Tampa Bay and Central Florida area.
In 2020, Jeremy Blythe, owner of Sunshine State Sweets opened up his dream of a pastry shop. Jeremy is a classically French-trained pastry chef from Tampa, Florida, and has always done his own thing on the side before opening up the shop. He decided to finally push himself to start up his “cottage style” bakery and share his passion with the community.
Sunshine State Sweets specializes in custom desserts and cakes from birthday cakes, wedding cakes, mini desserts, cupcakes, and pretty much any pastry you can think of. They also offer monthly specials that are themed around each month as well!
The attention to detail, the love, and the passion that goes into every pastry masterpiece are what sets Sunshine State Sweets apart from competitors. They are hyper-focused on every customer and make sure that they cater to any special request or need. One of their main goals is that their clients are 100% satisfied every single time!

When asked what his favorite part of going to work every day was, “My favorite part of going to work every day is seeing people’s faces when they get their orders and how excited they are for their creations,” said Jeremy excitedly.

“This is such an exciting time for Sunshine State Sweets. We are relatively brand new in the community! This is our second local award in the last 2 months and we have been “officially” in business since November 2020! We love Tampa Bay so much. I (Jeremy) was born and raised here in Tampa so this is home to me. To be recognized among so many amazing other bakeries that are ESTABLISHMENTS in the Tampa Bay area is truly something that I cannot wrap my head around. It means the world to even be THOUGHT of next to these community giants. Truly humbling…,” said Jeremy.
